  2. The article about Google is a bit out of date. I stopped reading at about

    • After the Googlebots come and go, I search for my new pages on Google, but the new pages don't appear in the search results. This is because the Googlebots do not index my pages into the main database right away. My new pages are finally indexed into the Google database every months or so.***

The monthly update is a thing from the past. They switched to a more continous update-schedule, and with that switch the results suffered their quality, which is said to be a temporary thing. Anyway that's another story...

And about the IE-Plugins confirmation box: I have it siwtched on for years now, just a simple security measure. And it saved me a lot of headache. You don't want ActiveX-Controls on by default when surfing the net; believe my, you don't. Anyway, I think most people will (hopefully) rather download a more recent browser by any other manufacturer, than an update from IE which will cripple an already out-of-date browser. ;)

P.S.: *** Your comment form wouldn't let me use a blockquote.

  3. "Anyway, I think most people will (hopefully) rather download a more recent browser by any other manufacturer, than an update from IE which will cripple an already out-of-date browser. ;)" Most people will not be aware that the "latest security patch" (or whatever they plan to bundle it with) will end-up crippling the browser. I'm sure many people simply leave "auto-update" on in Windows and just install whatever patches Microsoft sends their way.

  4. Yo Spencer, why you gotta be dis'n my stuff? Just kidding. I'm happy you saw my "out of date" article. The interesting stuff is on page 2 -- The Competition Tip!

I like this competition idea because it gets great results -- for instance, people frequently call me saying something like "I saw that you listed all the photography rental stores in San Francisco so I knew I would rent your cameras". Yet I don't see many other people or companies adopting the strategy yet.
