I'm actually quite hopeful about the future of YQL - I've talked to various Yahoo! people about that and the answer is always the same: Yahoo! built YQL as a tool to power all sorts of bits and pieces of Yahoo! sites (I think it's even used on the homepage there), so they are confident it will never be turned off.
