canto.js: An Improved HTML5 Canvas API (via) Improved is an understatement: canto adds jQuery-style method chaining, the ability to multiple coordinates to e.g. lineTo at once, relative coordinate methods (regular Canvas does everything in terms of absolute coordinates), the ability to use degrees instead of radians, a rounded corner shortcut, a more convenient .revert() method and a simple parser that can understand SVG path expressions! The only catch: it uses getters and setters so won’t work in IE.

  5. was a surprised by the post from a xoogler hinting Hadoop was better than google map/reduce - I'd always assumed Google was a few generations ahead. Open/group source is a very nice way to equalize competitive advantage.

  48. I currently using a lot of canvas on a project and it can be a bit of a pain, as it is very low level. So I would like to try out the library, but I think lack of Internet Explorer support is a real deal breaker. SVG probably would have been a better fit for my project, but lack of support in Internet Explorer, forced me into using explorer-canvas.js. So far I am really impressed with how well this successfully emulates a real canvas.
