YUI 3.0.0: First GA Release of YUI's Next-Generation Codeline. YUI 3 has some very neat ideas—everything is dynamically loaded, so you start with a tiny bootstrap script and call YUI().use(’module-name’) to load just the code you need. Congratulations to the team.

  1. I agree those are great ideas to skim the fat from the library. But I can't help complaining about a bug left in a core component: if you happen to use colons or dot in #ids you can wave goodbye YUI3 selector. http://yuilibrary.com/projects/yui3/ticket/2528057

  2. I like .use in general-- like dojo's module system. But I'm a bit concerned by their configurator's use of concatenated URLs:
    http://developer.yahoo.com/yui/3/configurator/

It seems like this would minimize CDN hits.

Also, selecting lots of components can result in a URL over 1K. Apparently under the 2K limit for IE, but still quite a hunk of URL to slog around. :-)
