I grew up in a college town, and one Halloween our doorbell rang and we opened the door expecting to see trickortreater—but what was in front of our open door—was another door! Like, a full-on wooden door, that had a sign that said “Please knock.” So we did, and the door swung open to reveal a bunch of college dudes dressed as really old grandmothers, curlers in their hair, etc, who proceeded to coo over our “costumes” and tell us we were “such cute trick or treaters!” One even pinched my cheek. Then THEY gave US candy, closed their door, picked it up and walked to the next house.

  11. Reminds me of people who give out free hugs. Not really necessary, but really cool when it happens.

  12. When I was in high school, one of my friends dressed up as a door-to-door salesman with a brief case full of candy, and tried to sell it to people.

  37. I had a more exciting hallween. Wife was coffee-ing with lady friend in kitchen; I was reading in living room. Every time the doorbell rang, I'd announce, "I'll get it" and hand out the candy as required. Once again it happened. I opened the door BUT there was no kid dressed as Batman. There was.... a FULL-GROWN LADY and as she said "TRICK OR TREAT" she opened the long coat she was wearing to reveal she had NOTHING UNDER IT, not even socks! I was stunned. It was my wife; she had changed, gone out the side door and to the front door. I was so shocked that she got no trick NOR treat!
