Yahoo! Term Extraction and Contextual Web Search services to be discontinued. The official closure date is August 31st. Term extraction was really useful—thankfully there are a number of decent alternatives such as Zemanta, OpenCalais and topia.termextract.

  2. That's a shame. Term Extraction was rather useful. Predictable though--term extraction is pretty much what search must be doing to find the most significant terms in each document.

  3. Good news !

By popular demand, Yahoo! is keeping the term extraction service up and running indefinitely.
