US shifts Visa Waiver Program authorization to Internet - Yahoo! News (via) If you’re a European travelling to the US from January 2009 you’ll need to fill out the online equivalent of an I-94W (the green form you get given on the plane) in advance. This is going to catch out a lot of people.

  1. Technically the green form is the I-94W. The straight I-94 is white and is for people *with* a visa. As such a person, I'm wondering if the same applies to me.

  2. Every time I've flown to the US I've been asked to provide the same information as the I-94/I-94W to the airline as part of checkin. It always struck me as a little redundant when you're required to complete the dead tree entry cards anyway. It'd be good if they could use the Advance Passenger Information to auto-complete the online I-94W so you'd only need to enter it once and you'd just show up with your passport. It'd be cool if they could do this for the plain old I-94 as well.

I'd hope that the airlines would let people know about this to avoid them getting caught out, though.
