Way faster download, and avoids bogging down even further their already swamped, lagging, timeouting servers. :-)

Yeah, the official site gets a big FAIL for timing out, and breaking most of the time when it doesn't time out.
Though that does sort of make an argument that commercial distribution centers are necessary. It's not necessarily easy to get a high-traffic, high-bandwidth site up and running, and I'm sure bands themselves are seldom interested in doing it.
