Notes from the summit

I’m at the Carson Workshops Future of Web Apps Summit today. It’s been a great set of talks, and some frantic SubEthaEdit action to capture the salient points. Here are the notes I’ve gathered over the course of the day (with help from various contributors; credits at the bottom of each file).

This is Notes from the summit by Simon Willison, posted on 8th February 2006.

  2. Great use of SubEthaEdit - just a sidenote: do you know the conference mode? This would add some highlighting and structure to the texts. File->New->Conference Also the HTML-Export feature can be of great use and show all contributors if desirable:PyCon2005, See-Example.

  3. I really enjoyed your notes on what Joshua had to say. I'm not a developer, but I am a big fan of del.icio.us. What he had to say about hooking users early by making the tool meaningful to an individual and then allowing the community effect to make the experience better is spot on. I was an early adopter of del.icio.us just because I wanted a better way to bookmark. I got others hooked on it for that purpose, too. But all the users in my network have glombed on to the discovery aspect, and some new folks have started using the site specifically because of discovery.

  13. Really great to have these notes. The editorial quotemarks in the Flex notes were particularly helpful.
