Kansas City web developer meetup

The last one was fun, so we’re having another. This time we’re shooting for Thursday April 29th at around 8pm, probably at a venue in Kansas City. If you’re interested in coming along drop a note to myself or Adrian and we’ll add you to the impromptu mailing list.

This is Kansas City web developer meetup by Simon Willison, posted on 26th April 2004.

  1. I'm not in the Kansas City area but I just started up something like this over in Holland, Michigan. What I was wondering is - how do you guys organize everything? What do you talk about? Check out http://elevatorup.com/labs/g33ks/ to get an idea of what I'm doing.

  2. Our model is even less organised than yours: we email a bunch of interesting web people, set a date and time, pick a restaurant and turn up. Then we eat and talk about whatever crosses our minds. The last time we did this no-one even brought a lap top along. Organisation is all done via email.

It's been a while since the last one, but I remember some of the things we talked about were CSS, accessibility and weird comments on blogs.

  3. Interesting.... Yea, there aren't a lot of really interesting web developers here in West Michigan other than a guy from Slashdot and Perlmonks that pop by every once in awhile. Good luck with your meetup and if you or anyone else is ever in the Holland, Michigan area - feel free to contact me.
