DNS mess

As the recent lack of updates demonstrates, I’ve been getting stuck in to a pretty time consuming new project. It should have launched several days ago but I made a right royal hash of the DNS settings—hopefully everything will be working fine in about 24 hours time.

Note to 123-reg: most people only have to mess around with DNS and nameserver settings one or twice a year. If the interface for doing so is anything less than 100% clear they’re going to run in to problems. A warning message to the tune of “make sure you know exactly what you are doing before you touch this” just doesn’t cut it.

  1. Personally I think that DNS is sufficiantly complex that people that know what they are doing will complain if the interface is restricted. It's quite a clear warning, and there is help to reset the information if you are hapless enough to delete your domain name info anyway :P
