A belated Merry Christmas

I’m back to work after enjoying that most precious of things: a holiday without computers. Comment spam has been deleted, email spam has been saved in a special folder (for rapid training of bayesian classifiers in the future) and the few emails of actual importance have all been flagged for follow up. Oh, and my Mac’s shipping date has slipped to the 2nd of January. If haven’t received it by Macworld and Apple drop the price I’ll be understandably upset.

This is A belated Merry Christmas by Simon Willison, posted on 29th December 2003.

  1. Who introduced 32 day months for 2004? Why wasn't I informed of that?

  2. Now that was a dumb typo, now fixed.

  3. Although I've never had the need to put it to the test, I've heard Apple is very generous when it comes to this sort of thing. I think they have a grace period of about two weeks where they'll offer you the lower price/upgraded model if a new model or price is offered.

I bought my PowerBook earlier this month so I wouldn't be eligible for any price matching or free upgrades. (Fortunately for me, the odds of there being a G5 PowerBook announced at MWSF are slim to nil.)

Of course, that's the chance you take by buying a Mac just before Macworld...

  4. Hmmm... Apple delaying a ship date until after MacWorld. This sounds like and update to the PowerBook line. Apple has a history of not shipping products about to be upgraded. Like mentioned just above they will usually offer the better price or better computer to those waiting for products.
