More fun with Search

While browsing around my phoenix/ directory I spotted a sub-directory called searchplugins, which appears to control the list of search engines available in the very useful search box at the top right corner of the browser. A bit of digging later and it turns out that adding new search engines to Mozilla based browsers is remarkably easy: The Mozilla Search Project.

I’m a sucker for new toys, so click here to add the simon.incutio.com search engine to your (Mozilla or Firebird) browser :)

  2. No I hadn't - wow! That's a very impressive collection of search plugins. Much better documentation than the Mozilla Search page as well.

  3. I use (and wrote) Deadman's Redirect for a similar purpose. The thing I like about it is that it isn't tied to any one browser. I can use it at work, home, friend's house, whatever, without having to install anything into the browser. With Mozilla keywords, it's really easy to mimic the in-browser search engine plugins.

  4. I tried to get this working with an Atomz search but had no joy - has anyone else worked out what needs to be changed to get the search term into the URL such that Atomz' get method works?
