Myself, I just set up a mailer to mail me with the url of the entry to read in context, and the comment itself when someone posts one. About 2 or 3 lines of code.

Likewise. Though it became a million times more usable when I set the headers right to enable proper threading, author display etc. Well, I also have a short recent comments list I may put in the sidebar.
