Camouflage. My other key piece of OS X presenting software—hides all of the icons on the desktop (no need to drag them all in to an “Archive” folder every time I give talk).

  1. There is a hidden preference accessible via TinkerTool that adds a "Quit Finder" option to its application menu. This way when you need to hide the desktop and all your finder windows, simply hitting Cmd-Q will suffice.

Getting the desktop back is a simple matter of clicking the Finder icon in the dock.
