Yeah, interesting times. Oracle buys Innobase, Sun buys MySQL. Seems an odd move, but maybe they're just wanting to cover the bases. MS SQL, DB2, and Oracle have large locked-in bases, but making new sales will be more about marketing than any technical or liability issue now.

Also remember that MySQL has almost got Falcon out of the door, so the position InnoDB holds is at most tenuous.
Then again, I'm a PostgreSQL person :-)
