Fork JavaScript. A great name for Yet Another JavaScript Library. This one tries to combine the best bits from YUI and Prototype.

  1. Does anyone know of a comprehensive and deep round-up of the various JS libs out there, and their respective pros and cons? i.e. Dojo vs. YUI vs. MochiKit vs. Prototype w/Scriptaculous (vs. Fork)?

It really requires a large investment of time to become familiar with each lib's APIs and idiosyncrasies, so most round-ups I've seen only really scratch the surface.

Is there even a clear consensus on the current best-of-breed?

  2. From my little experiments I learn JS libs are working quite well with major browsers but fail rapidly when exotic browsers like Konqueror are used.

It sometimes a pain to surf on the net these days without firefox or IE.

I have tested several libs and YUI is quite good. Almost everything is working. To know the quality of a lib I just test it with Konqueror and if it working on it it's also working everywhere else.

JQuery was good but after the 1.1 release it's began to be completely broken.

Beside design criticisms Prototype and scriptaculous seems quite good and websites like gucci are incredible and works perfectly well.

Dojo is not working at all.
